Rove Miles Complete Guide: Hotel Booking, Marriott Eligible Rates, Flights & Airline Transfers

Rove Miles is a travel rewards platform that lets you earn transferable miles through hotel bookings, flights, online shopping, and dining. Unlike a traditional airline loyalty program, Rove Miles is not tied to a single airline, and you do not need a specific co-branded credit card to start earning.

One of its most interesting features is hotel booking. Travelers can choose high-earning Rove Rates or select Loyalty Eligible rates that may also qualify for hotel loyalty points, elite night credits, and applicable elite benefits.

In this guide, I’ll explain how Rove Miles works, compare three actual booking options at Yokohama Bay Sheraton, examine the cost of adding miles to a STARLUX flight through Miles Boost, and cover Rove’s airline and hotel transfer partners.

🌍 What Is Rove Miles?

Rove Miles is a transferable rewards currency earned through eligible travel and shopping transactions. Miles can be used toward bookings on Rove or transferred to participating airline and hotel loyalty programs.

The platform works somewhat like a shopping rewards portal: you complete an eligible purchase through Rove and receive miles as an additional reward.

Its biggest advantage is the potential to stack Rove Miles with credit card rewards. Certain hotel rates may also qualify for hotel loyalty points and elite night credits.

Rove Miles do not have a single fixed redemption value. The value depends on how you redeem them and which transfer partner you choose.

For that reason, earning the highest multiplier is not necessarily the best strategy. The total price, benefits, and potential redemption value all matter.

💰 How to Earn Rove Miles

There are four main ways to earn Rove Miles:

  • Hotel bookings: Reserve eligible hotels through Rove Hotels and earn miles based on the selected rate.
  • Flight bookings: Purchase eligible flights through Rove Flights, with an optional paid Miles Boost.
  • Online shopping: Visit participating retailers through Rove Shopping and complete qualifying purchases.
  • Dining: Link a payment card and earn miles at eligible U.S. restaurants.

These rewards can generally be earned alongside the rewards provided by your credit card.

For example, if your card recognizes a Rove hotel booking as an eligible travel purchase, you may receive both Rove Miles and the card’s bonus points.

However, whether a transaction qualifies for a credit card’s travel bonus depends on the merchant category and the card issuer’s terms.

🏨 Rove Hotels: Earn Miles on Hotel Bookings

Official link: Rove Hotels

Hotel bookings are one of the most compelling features of Rove Miles.

Earning rates vary by hotel, travel dates, and booking option. Some rates can generate thousands of Rove Miles from a single stay, although a higher earning rate does not necessarily mean a lower hotel price.

Hotel rewards are generally calculated using the eligible room rate rather than simply multiplying the final tax-inclusive total by the advertised multiplier.

Before booking, compare:

  • Total price, including taxes and fees.
  • Actual Rove Miles earned.
  • Breakfast and other included benefits.
  • Cancellation deadlines and refund conditions.
  • Eligibility for hotel loyalty points and elite night credits.
  • Whether existing hotel elite benefits apply.

Rove Rates vs. Loyalty Eligible Rates

At selected chain hotels, Rove offers different booking options.

FeatureRove RatesLoyalty Eligible

Hotel loyalty pointsGenerally not eligibleEligible when qualifying conditions are met
Elite night creditsGenerally not eligibleEligible when qualifying conditions are met
Hotel elite benefitsShould not be assumedSubject to program and booking terms
Best forMaximizing transferable milesMaintaining hotel loyalty benefits

The important distinction is not just the number of Rove Miles earned. It is whether the stay qualifies under the hotel’s loyalty program.

Travelers who do not need additional elite nights may prefer a high-earning Rove Rate.

Those working toward elite status or relying on hotel benefits should compare Loyalty Eligible options.

⭐ Marriott Bonvoy Eligible: How to Book a Qualifying Rate

At participating Marriott hotels, the Rove room selection page may display two options:

Rove Rates and Marriott Bonvoy Eligible.

Selecting Marriott Bonvoy Eligible allows you to review rates marked as eligible for Marriott Bonvoy benefits.

This feature can be particularly interesting for Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite members and above.

Qualifying stays may earn Marriott Bonvoy points and Elite Night Credits while providing applicable elite benefits, such as breakfast, lounge access, late checkout, or room upgrades.

However, Loyalty Eligible does not automatically guarantee every elite benefit at every hotel. Eligibility depends on the specific booking, property, brand, and Marriott Bonvoy terms.

For more details on elite benefits, earning rates, and qualification rules, see my Marriott Bonvoy Complete Guide.

📊 Real Booking Comparison: Yokohama Bay Sheraton

To compare these options, I searched for a one-night stay at Yokohama Bay Sheraton Hotel & Towers in Japan.

The comparison includes a high-earning Rove Rate, a Marriott Bonvoy Eligible rate through Rove, and a rate displayed on Marriott’s official website.

[Image: Marriott official website, Guest Room 1 King, $262 including taxes and fees]

All three searches involved the same basic King room category, but cancellation policies and rate conditions differed.

The Marriott website displayed rates from $262, including taxes and fees. This was a starting rate, not a final confirmed checkout total.

It should therefore not be treated as an identical, fully confirmed booking offer.

How Many Marriott Points Can a Platinum Elite Member Earn?

At most Marriott brands, members earn 10 base points per eligible U.S. dollar spent.

Platinum Elite members receive a 50% bonus, resulting in:

15 Marriott Bonvoy points per $1 of eligible spending.

The Rove Marriott Bonvoy Eligible option displayed the following breakdown:

ItemAmount
Room rate before taxes$256.57
Taxes and fees$25.65
Total$282.22
Rove Miles1,282
Estimated Marriott pointsApproximately 3,848

Assuming the entire $256.57 room rate qualifies for Marriott points:

$256.57 × 15 = approximately 3,848 Marriott Bonvoy points.

That means this stay could potentially earn:

  • 1,282 Rove Miles.
  • Approximately 3,848 Marriott Bonvoy points.
  • One qualifying Marriott Elite Night Credit.

Actual Marriott earnings depend on the amount recognized as eligible spending.

Because the Marriott direct-booking screenshot does not show the eligible pretax room rate, I have not estimated the points earned through Marriott’s website.

Estimated Effective Cost After Points

To compare the three booking options, I’ll use estimated valuations of 1.5 cents per Rove Mile and 0.7 cents per Marriott Bonvoy point. By subtracting the estimated value of the earned rewards from each room rate, we can compare their effective costs.

ItemRove 26XRove Marriott Eligible 5XMarriott Direct
Total price including taxes$309.27$282.22$262.00
Rove Miles earned6,9081,2820
Marriott points earned0~3,848~3,573
Estimated Rove Miles value$103.62$19.23—
Estimated Marriott points value—$26.94$25.01
Estimated effective cost$205.65$236.05$236.99

Note: Marriott’s $262 rate includes taxes and fees. Marriott points are estimated using an approximate pretax room rate and the Platinum Elite earning rate. Point valuations are illustrative and do not represent actual cash discounts.

The comparison reveals an interesting result: Rove 26X has the highest upfront price but the lowest estimated effective cost after accounting for the value of the earned miles, approximately $30 less than the other two options.

Rove Marriott Eligible 5X and Marriott Direct have nearly identical estimated effective costs, with a difference of less than $1. Although the Rove Eligible rate has a higher upfront price, the additional 1,282 Rove Miles help offset the difference, bringing its estimated effective cost almost in line with booking directly through Marriott.

For travelers who already hold Marriott elite status and do not need additional Elite Night Credits, a high-earning Rove Rate may offer better overall value. However, travelers pursuing elite status or relying on benefits such as breakfast and lounge access may prefer a Marriott Bonvoy Eligible booking.

✈️ Rove Flights: Earn Miles When Booking Airfare

Official link: Rove Flights

Rove also allows travelers to search for and purchase cash airline tickets.

An eligible booking may earn three types of rewards:

  1. Rove Miles.
  2. Airline frequent flyer miles.
  3. Credit card rewards.

Airline miles are subject to the fare class, ticket eligibility, and the airline loyalty program’s earning rules.

STARLUX Airlines: Tokyo to Taipei Example

I searched for a STARLUX Airlines economy ticket from Tokyo Narita to Taipei Taoyuan.

ItemSearch Result

DateNovember 24, 2026
AirlineSTARLUX Airlines
CabinEconomy
Total ticket price$315.50
Rove Miles earned315
Base earning rate1X

The base 1X earning rate is much lower than some hotel booking multipliers.

However, if Rove offers a competitive ticket price and the fare qualifies for airline mileage accrual, the additional Rove Miles can still be useful.

Best Credit Cards for Rove Bookings

Rove is a third-party travel platform, so credit card bonus eligibility depends on how the transaction is classified.

Credit CardRelevant RewardsImportant Consideration
Chase Sapphire Reserve4X on eligible direct airline and hotel purchasesDo not assume third-party Rove bookings qualify
American Express Green Card3X Membership Rewards on eligible travelSubject to merchant classification
Citi Strata Premier3X ThankYou Points on eligible air travel and hotelsSubject to merchant classification
Capital One Venture X2X miles on general purchasesDoes not require a travel bonus category

One important distinction is that buying an airline ticket through a third-party platform does not necessarily mean the credit card issuer will classify the purchase as an airline transaction.

For example, the standard 5X airfare benefit on the U.S. American Express Platinum Card generally applies to eligible flights booked directly with airlines or through Amex Travel. A Rove flight purchase should not automatically be assumed to qualify.

For broader travel spending, the American Express Green Card may be worth considering, subject to its terms. You can also read my Membership Rewards Complete Guide for more about the points ecosystem.

For Citi cardholders, see the Citi Strata Premier Guide and Citi ThankYou Points Complete Guide.

Actual bonus eligibility should always be confirmed against the issuer’s current terms and the posted transaction.

🚀 Miles Boost: Buy Additional Rove Miles With a Flight

Rove Flights offers an optional Miles Boost feature during checkout.

Depending on the booking, travelers can choose from 1X, 3X, 5X, or 10X earning options.

The base 1X option is included, while higher multipliers require an additional payment.

STARLUX 10X Miles Boost Example

ItemBase 1XMiles Boost 10X
Total ticket price$315.50$360.86
Rove Miles earned3153,150
Additional payment—$45.36
Additional Rove Miles—2,835
Cost per additional mile—1.60 cents

In this example, paying an additional $45.36 purchases 2,835 extra Rove Miles, equivalent to approximately 1.60 cents per additional mile.

This provides another way to acquire miles when you need to top up your balance for a specific airline transfer.

The actual cost and number of additional miles depend on the flight and the offer displayed during checkout.

🎫 Can You Use Rove Miles to Pay for Flights?

Yes. Rove Flights supports Cash + Miles, allowing travelers to redeem some Rove Miles toward a ticket and pay the remaining amount in cash.

Using the same STARLUX flight:

ItemAmount
Cash ticket price$315.50
Miles required for full redemption24,000
Approximate redemption value1.31 cents per mile

[Image: Rove Flights Cash + Miles payment slider]

This is convenient, especially if you want to reduce your out-of-pocket ticket cost.

However, the example provides only about 1.31 cents per mile.

Travelers seeking higher-value award flights should also compare the mileage requirements of Rove’s airline transfer partners before redeeming miles directly toward airfare.

🛍️ Rove Shopping: Earn Extra Miles Online

Official link: Rove Shopping

Rove Shopping operates similarly to an online shopping rewards portal.

Start at Rove Shopping, click through to a participating merchant, and complete an eligible purchase to earn additional Rove Miles.

Participating merchants include retailers, electronics stores, travel experience platforms, and vacation rental services.

For frequent travelers, Klook, GetYourGuide, and Viator are particularly relevant.

These platforms sell attraction tickets, guided tours, and local experiences. If you already plan to make a purchase, checking Rove Shopping first may provide an additional opportunity to earn miles.

Earning rates can change, and certain promotional codes, app purchases, or product categories may be excluded.

Always review the merchant’s current earning terms before completing your purchase.

🍽️ Rove Dining: Earn Miles at U.S. Restaurants

Official link: Rove Dining

Rove Dining offers card-linked mileage rewards at participating restaurants in the United States.

You do not need to make a restaurant reservation through Rove. Simply link an eligible payment card, visit a participating restaurant, and pay with the linked card to earn qualifying Rove Miles automatically.

These rewards may stack with your credit card’s normal dining rewards. For example, an eligible restaurant purchase with the U.S. American Express Gold Card may also earn 4X Membership Rewards points.

Rove Dining currently focuses on participating U.S. restaurants, so restaurants in Japan and Taiwan are not eligible.

If the same payment card is linked to another card-linked dining rewards program, that enrollment may affect which program awards miles.

🔄 Rove Miles Airline and Hotel Transfer Partners

One of the most important Rove Miles features is the ability to transfer miles to participating airline and hotel loyalty programs.

As of November 2026, the Rove transfer page displayed 22 partner program listings: 21 airline-related rewards programs and one hotel loyalty program.

Most airline-related partners have a standard 1:1 transfer ratio, while ALL Accor uses a different ratio.

JetBlue TrueBlue: The November 2026 transfer screen showed a limited-time bonus offer. The actual number of JetBlue points received may therefore differ from the standard ratio. Check the promotion dates and the transfer confirmation screen before proceeding.

Virgin Red and Virgin Atlantic Flying Club are closely related but appear as separate transfer options on Rove. They are listed separately here for consistency with the platform.

Hotel Transfer Partner

Loyalty ProgramTransfer Ratio
ALL Accor Live Limitless1,500 Rove Miles → 1,000 ALL Reward Points

ALL Accor is the hotel loyalty partner shown on the Rove transfer page.

Because its ratio differs from the airline programs, travelers should evaluate the value of ALL Reward Points separately rather than treating them as equivalent to airline miles.

🎯 Which Rove Miles Transfer Partners Are Worth Considering?

Rove’s transfer partner network is particularly interesting because it includes programs that have historically been less accessible through major U.S. transferable credit card currencies.

JAL Mileage Bank

Rove provides another way to acquire JAL miles for Japan Airlines and eligible partner award flights.

Earning Rove Miles through hotel bookings and transferring them to JAL can supplement miles earned from flights and credit cards.

However, JAL has its own award rules, eligibility requirements, and availability restrictions. Always confirm the specific redemption before transferring.

Miles & More

Miles & More is an important frequent flyer program associated with Lufthansa Group airlines and other participating carriers.

A 1:1 Rove transfer can provide another way to top up a Miles & More balance.

Before transferring, consider the required miles, taxes, carrier-imposed surcharges, and actual award availability.

Finnair Plus

Finnair Plus uses Avios, making it relevant for travelers already familiar with the Avios ecosystem.

Rove Miles can be transferred to Finnair Plus at a 1:1 ratio, then used for eligible Finnair Plus redemptions.

Transfers between different Avios programs may require account linking and other conditions. Do not assume every account can move Avios freely between programs.

Aeroplan and Flying Blue

Air Canada Aeroplan and Air France–KLM Flying Blue both provide access to extensive airline partner networks.

For travelers already earning American Express, Citi, or other transferable points, Rove Miles can serve as an additional source of miles.

Rove may also offer limited-time transfer bonuses. If you do not have an immediate redemption planned, it may be worth monitoring offers rather than transferring speculatively.

The safest approach is to find an eligible award seat and confirm the required miles before initiating a transfer.

🔁 How to Transfer Rove Miles

Official website: Rove Miles

Transfers can be initiated from your Rove account.

  1. Sign in to Rove.
  2. Open Transfer Miles from your account.
  3. Select an airline or hotel loyalty partner.
  4. Enter your loyalty program membership information.
  5. Choose the number of Rove Miles to transfer.
  6. Review the transfer ratio, account details, and terms before confirming.

Rove generally has a 2,000-mile minimum transfer requirement, although individual partners may have additional restrictions or transfer increments.

[Image: Rove Transfer Miles partner selection and transfer amount screen]

Some transfers may complete quickly, while others can require additional processing time.

Completed transfers are generally irreversible, and award availability is not guaranteed to remain available while a transfer is processing.

For that reason, verify your membership details, required miles, award availability, and taxes before transferring.

⚠️ Important Things to Know Before Using Rove Miles

A Higher Earning Rate Does Not Always Mean a Better Deal

High-earning Rove hotel rates may cost more than booking directly with the hotel.

Compare the total price, rewards earned, and booking conditions rather than focusing only on the multiplier.

Loyalty Eligible Rates Are Not Available for Every Booking

Only certain properties, room types, or rates may qualify for hotel loyalty benefits.

Always review the specific rate before completing the reservation.

Cancellation and Refund Rules May Differ

Even when the hotel and room category are the same, cancellation deadlines can vary by booking channel.

For flights, check whether changes or cancellations must be handled through Rove rather than directly with the airline.

Shopping Rewards Depend on Tracking

Promotional codes, excluded products, app checkouts, and merchant-specific conditions may affect whether a purchase earns miles.

Credit Card Bonus Categories Are Not Guaranteed

A booking made through Rove may not be categorized the same way as a direct airline or hotel purchase.

Confirm the card issuer’s terms before relying on a particular bonus rate.

Transfers Are Generally Irreversible

Transferred miles typically cannot be moved back to Rove, and airline award availability may change before the transfer completes.

Rove Miles Have No Fixed Redemption Value

Using miles toward flights, hotel bookings, or airline transfers can produce very different values.

A single cents-per-mile estimate should not determine every redemption decision.

🏁 Bottom Line: Is Rove Miles Worth Using?

Rove Miles brings hotel bookings, flights, shopping, dining, and airline transfers into one rewards platform.

Its strongest features are particularly relevant to travelers who already understand hotel loyalty programs and transferable points.

First, high-earning hotel bookings. If you do not need hotel loyalty points or additional elite nights, a high-multiplier Rove Rate may offer an attractive opportunity to earn transferable miles.

Second, Loyalty Eligible hotel rates. For Marriott and other participating hotel loyalty members, qualifying rates may provide a combination of Rove Miles, hotel points, and elite night credits.

Third, airline transfer partners. Programs such as JAL Mileage Bank, Miles & More, and Finnair Plus expand the ways travelers can use the miles they earn.

Rove Flights, Miles Boost, Shopping, and Dining provide additional opportunities to build a balance. Miles Boost is particularly relevant when you need a specific number of extra miles for a planned transfer.

Overall, Rove Miles is most useful for travelers willing to compare booking prices, understand hotel loyalty benefits, and strategically transfer miles for award travel.
