Atmos Rewards Southeast Asia Stopover Guide: STARLUX & Philippine Airlines
Atmos Rewards offers more than award flights on oneworld member airlines. Its airline partners also include STARLUX Airlines and Philippine Airlines, giving travelers additional options for redeeming points on flights between the United States and Asia.
As of October 2026, neither airline is a full oneworld member. Philippine Airlines has announced plans to join the alliance, while STARLUX remains a non-oneworld partner.
Both airlines offer an interesting way to build a Southeast Asia itinerary: fly from the United States to an Asian hub, spend several days exploring the city, and then continue to another destination on the same one-way award ticket.
In this guide, I compare actual Atmos Rewards business class award searches on STARLUX via Taipei and Philippine Airlines via Manila. The goal is to identify itineraries where adding a stopover and a second flight requires relatively few additional points—or none at all.
For the program’s general redemption rules, see my Atmos Rewards Complete Guide.
🌏 Atmos Rewards U.S.–Asia Pacific Partner Award Chart
Atmos Rewards uses distance-based pricing for partner airline awards. Flights between the United States and Asia Pacific fall under the Asia Pacific award chart, with pricing based on the total one-way itinerary distance.
| Total One-Way Distance | Economy | Premium Economy | Business | First |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Under 1,500 miles | 7,500 | 10,000 | 15,000 | 22,500 |
| 1,501–3,000 | 25,000 | 32,500 | 50,000 | 75,000 |
| 3,001–5,000 | 30,000 | 40,000 | 60,000 | 90,000 |
| 5,001–7,000 | 37,500 | 50,000 | 75,000 | 110,000 |
| 7,001–10,000 | 42,500 | 55,000 | 85,000 | 130,000 |
| 10,001+ | 65,000 | 85,000 | 130,000 | 195,000 |
All figures represent starting rates for one-way partner awards. Actual prices may be higher.
Several STARLUX and Philippine Airlines stopover itineraries in this guide priced at 85,000 Atmos Points, matching the published starting business class rate for the 7,001–10,000-mile band.
However, the award chart is a pricing reference rather than a guarantee. Always verify the final points requirement for the complete itinerary.
⭐ Atmos Rewards Southeast Asia Business Class Award Comparison
The following results were searched on the Atmos Rewards website on October 21, 2026. All prices are for one passenger traveling one-way in business class.
| Airline | Route | Stopover | Atmos Points | Taxes & Fees |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| STARLUX | PHX → TPE | — | 85,000 | Approx. $26 |
| STARLUX | PHX → TPE → BKK | Taipei | 85,000 | $50.40 |
| STARLUX | PHX → TPE → KUL | Taipei | 85,000 | $48.70 |
| STARLUX | PHX → TPE → SGN | Taipei | 85,000 | $48.70 |
| Philippine Airlines | SEA → MNL | — | 75,000 | Approx. $26 |
| Philippine Airlines | SEA → MNL → BKK | Manila | 85,000 | $42.40 |
| Philippine Airlines | SEA → MNL → DPS | Manila | 85,000 | $40.70 |
| Philippine Airlines | SEA → MNL → CGK | Manila | 85,000 | $40.70 |
Two differences stand out.
STARLUX Airlines: The Phoenix–Taipei business class award costs 85,000 points. Adding a stopover in Taipei and continuing to Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, or Ho Chi Minh City did not increase the points required in these searches.
Philippine Airlines: Seattle–Manila costs 75,000 points in business class. Extending the trip to selected Southeast Asian destinations with a Manila stopover increases the price to 85,000 points.
These are actual search results, not guaranteed award prices for every date or destination.
✈️ STARLUX Airlines: Stop Over in Taipei on the Way to Southeast Asia
Phoenix to Taipei: The Nonstop Business Class Baseline

▲ STARLUX Airlines nonstop business class from Phoenix to Taipei, priced at 85,000 Atmos Points.
The first search covers STARLUX flight JX25 from Phoenix (PHX) to Taipei Taoyuan (TPE).
The one-way business class award was available for 85,000 Atmos Points.
This establishes the baseline for comparing itineraries that include a Taipei stopover and an additional flight to Southeast Asia.
Phoenix → Taipei → Bangkok: 85,000 Points

▲ STARLUX business class from Phoenix to Bangkok via a Taipei stopover: 85,000 points + $50.40.
The searched itinerary included:
- PHX → TPE: STARLUX JX25
- Stopover in Taipei
- TPE → BKK: STARLUX JX741
The complete itinerary priced at 85,000 Atmos Points + $50.40.
Compared with the nonstop Phoenix–Taipei award, adding the stopover and the onward flight to Bangkok required zero additional points. Only the taxes and fees increased.
This makes the itinerary particularly interesting for travelers who already plan to visit Taipei but would also like to spend time in Bangkok.
Instead of redeeming separate award tickets for the two flights, both destinations can be included in a single one-way award itinerary when eligible flights are available.
Phoenix → Taipei → Kuala Lumpur: 85,000 Points

▲ STARLUX business class from Phoenix to Kuala Lumpur via Taipei: 85,000 points + $48.70.
Changing the final destination to Kuala Lumpur (KUL) produced another favorable result.
The complete business class itinerary priced at 85,000 Atmos Points + $48.70, matching the points required for the nonstop Phoenix–Taipei flight.
I also found a Phoenix–Taipei–Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) itinerary priced at 85,000 points + $48.70.
These searches establish three examples where STARLUX allows travelers to continue beyond Taipei without increasing the points required:
- Bangkok (BKK)
- Kuala Lumpur (KUL)
- Ho Chi Minh City (SGN)
The actual pricing of other destinations may differ, so travelers should always check the complete itinerary before making a redemption.
For more ways to use Atmos Points on STARLUX flights within Asia, see my STARLUX Airlines Stopover Guide.
🇵🇭 Philippine Airlines: Stop Over in Manila on the Way to Southeast Asia
Philippine Airlines provides another option for travelers departing from the United States.
The principle is similar: redeem a transpacific business class flight to Manila, add a stopover, and continue to another destination in Southeast Asia.
However, the pricing works out differently from the STARLUX examples.
Seattle to Manila: The Nonstop Business Class Baseline

▲ Philippine Airlines nonstop business class from Seattle to Manila, priced at 75,000 Atmos Points.
The first search was for Philippine Airlines flight PR125 from Seattle (SEA) to Manila (MNL).
The nonstop business class award priced at 75,000 Atmos Points, with approximately $26 in taxes and fees.
This is the baseline for evaluating Manila stopover itineraries.
Seattle → Manila → Bangkok: 85,000 Points

▲ Philippine Airlines business class from Seattle to Bangkok via Manila: 85,000 points + $42.40.
The searched itinerary included:
- SEA → MNL: Philippine Airlines PR125
- Stopover in Manila
- MNL → BKK: Philippine Airlines PR730
The complete itinerary priced at 85,000 Atmos Points + $42.40.
Compared with the nonstop Seattle–Manila award, the additional flight to Bangkok required 10,000 more points.
For travelers interested in visiting both Manila and Bangkok, this provides a practical alternative to redeeming two separate award tickets.
The itinerary also demonstrates that a stopover does not necessarily mean paying the full points price for an additional regional business class flight.
Seattle → Manila → Bali: 85,000 Points

▲ Philippine Airlines business class from Seattle to Bali via Manila: 85,000 points + $40.70.
I also searched for a Manila stopover followed by a flight to Denpasar, Bali (DPS).
The complete business class itinerary priced at 85,000 Atmos Points + $40.70.
A similar search for Jakarta (CGK) returned the same points requirement and taxes: 85,000 points + $40.70.
These results show that Philippine Airlines can be useful for travelers who want to combine a visit to Manila with a trip to Thailand or Indonesia.
🛫 How to Search for an Atmos Rewards Stopover Award
Atmos Rewards allows an eligible stopover on certain one-way partner award itineraries. The complete itinerary must satisfy the program’s routing rules, and award seats must be available on the selected flights.
To search for a stopover itinerary:
- Sign in to your Atmos Rewards account and select the option to book with points.
- Open the multi-city or stopover search interface.
- Enter your U.S. departure airport, Asian stopover city, and final destination.
- Choose the dates for each flight, allowing time to explore the stopover city.
- Select available business class flights for both segments.
- Review the complete itinerary and confirm the total points, taxes, fees, and cabin classes before proceeding to checkout.
My preferred approach is to find the transpacific business class award first, then search for an eligible onward flight within Asia.
The long-haul flight is often the most important part of the itinerary, so finding available seats on that segment gives you a starting point.
Keep in mind that finding award seats on two flights separately does not guarantee that Atmos Rewards will combine them into a single stopover award.
Always verify the final price on the complete itinerary page.
💳 How to Earn Atmos Points
U.S. travelers can earn Atmos Points through eligible flights, participating partners, and Atmos Rewards co-branded credit cards.
The Atmos Rewards Summit Visa Infinite Card is one option for travelers who frequently redeem Atmos Points for partner airline awards.
Points may also be available through eligible partner activities and official points purchase promotions.
Before purchasing additional points or committing to a redemption, I recommend confirming that the entire stopover itinerary is available at the expected price.
This is especially important for multi-segment business class awards, where availability and pricing can change between searches.
🏁 Conclusion: Two Asian Destinations on One Business Class Award
These actual Atmos Rewards searches demonstrate that travelers can combine a transpacific business class flight with a stopover in Asia and continue to another Southeast Asian destination on the same one-way award ticket.
STARLUX Airlines stands out for its Phoenix–Taipei itineraries. In the examples I found, adding Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, or Ho Chi Minh City after a Taipei stopover did not increase the points required.
Philippine Airlines offers a different opportunity. Seattle–Manila was available for fewer points, while extending the journey to Bangkok, Bali, or Jakarta required an additional 10,000 points.
Neither approach is necessarily the cheapest way to reach Southeast Asia. The value comes from combining two destinations into one itinerary while traveling in business class across the Pacific.
For travelers already planning to visit Taipei or Manila, these stopover options are worth checking before redeeming separate flights.
All examples were searched on October 21, 2026, using the Atmos Rewards website. They represent actual award search and pricing results, not completed ticket purchases. Award availability, points requirements, and taxes may change.
