Is the Bilt Blue Card Worth It?

The biggest advantage of the Bilt Blue Card is access to Bilt Card 2.0 Housing Rewards with no annual fee.

Cardholders with eligible rent or mortgage expenses can make Housing Payments through Bilt without paying a Bilt Housing Payment transaction fee.

There are two Housing Rewards options:

Housing-only Rewards

With Housing-only Rewards, everyday purchases on the Bilt Blue Card continue to earn the standard 1X Bilt Points, but do not earn the additional 4% Bilt Cash.

The Housing Payment earn rate is determined by:

Bilt Card Everyday Spend ÷ Housing Payment

Depending on this ratio, eligible Housing Payments can earn up to:

1.25X Bilt Points

Flexible Bilt Cash

With Flexible Bilt Cash, eligible Everyday Spend on the Bilt Blue Card earns:

1X Bilt Points + 4% Bilt Cash

Bilt Cash can then be used to enable eligible Housing Payments to earn Bilt Points.

For example:

US$30 Bilt Cash

can enable:

US$1,000 Housing Payment → 1X → 1,000 Bilt Points

Under Flexible Bilt Cash, eligible Housing Payments can earn up to 1X Bilt Points.

Bilt Card Application Rules & Restrictions

Bilt Card 2.0 cards are issued by Column N.A., Member FDIC, with Cardless providing card servicing.

Key application considerations include:

  • Bilt does not publish a fixed minimum Credit Score.
  • Approval may consider Credit History, Income, Existing Debt, and other credit information.
  • Applicants can check whether they are approved without affecting their Credit Score.
  • An application entering Manual Review does not necessarily mean it has been declined.
  • If declined, applicants may reapply after 45 days under Bilt’s current rules.
  • Bilt Card 2.0 no longer has the old 5 Transactions Requirement.

Bilt does not publish a simple application rule comparable to Chase 5/24. Eligibility and approval remain subject to Bilt’s current terms and underwriting criteria.

Can Foreign Applicants Apply for the Bilt Blue Card?

The Bilt Blue Card is a U.S. credit card, and applicants must meet the issuer’s identity and credit underwriting requirements.

Approval may consider factors including U.S. Credit History, Income, and Existing Debt, and Bilt does not publish a minimum Credit Score that guarantees approval.

Foreign applicants who have not yet established U.S. credit history can consider starting with American Express Global Transfer, using an existing eligible American Express relationship outside the U.S. to apply for a U.S. Amex card and begin building U.S. credit history.

A practical path is:

American Express Global Transfer → U.S. Amex → Build 6–12 Months of U.S. Credit History → Bilt Blue Card

For foreign applicants, the Bilt Blue Card is therefore generally better considered after establishing some U.S. credit history rather than as a first U.S. credit card.
