EVA Air Infinity MileageLands Complete Guide: Award Charts, Star Alliance & Stopovers
EVA Air Infinity MileageLands is the frequent flyer program of Taiwan-based EVA Air, a member of Star Alliance. Members can redeem miles for EVA Air flights and eligible flights operated by Star Alliance partners, including United Airlines, ANA, Singapore Airlines, and Lufthansa.
One of the program’s main attractions is its fixed award chart. EVA Air business class awards within Asia start at 25,000 miles one-way, while business class flights between Asia and Europe start at 75,000 miles one-way.
For U.S. travelers, Infinity MileageLands is especially relevant because eligible Citi ThankYou Points can be transferred to EVA Air. The program also offers access to Star Alliance partner awards, including round-trip itineraries with stopovers.
This guide covers how to earn EVA Air miles, award charts, Star Alliance redemptions, stopover rules, award availability, booking fees, mileage transfers, and expiration policies.
✈️ What Is EVA Air Infinity MileageLands?
| Feature | Details |
|---|---|
| Airline | EVA Air |
| Loyalty program | Infinity MileageLands |
| Airline alliance | Star Alliance |
| EVA Air awards | Fixed region-based award chart |
| Star Alliance awards | Separate region-based award chart |

| Primary redemptions | Award flights and cabin upgrades |
Infinity MileageLands is particularly relevant to travelers flying between North America and Asia, as well as those interested in using Star Alliance partners for international award travel.
Unlike dynamically priced programs, EVA Air publishes award charts that provide a predictable starting point when planning redemptions. Actual booking still depends on award seat availability.

💳 How to Earn EVA Air Miles
Infinity MileageLands miles can be earned through eligible flights and participating rewards programs.
Citi ThankYou Points Transfers
| Rewards Program | Transfer Ratio | Minimum Transfer |
|---|---|---|
| Citi ThankYou Points (U.S.) | Up to 1:1 with eligible cards | Depends on account eligibility |
For U.S. readers, Citi ThankYou Points is the main transferable credit card rewards currency to consider.
Eligible Citi cards may offer a 1:1 transfer ratio to EVA Air Infinity MileageLands. The exact ratio and transfer eligibility depend on the card and account.

Earning Miles on Flights
| Flight Type | Earning Method |
|---|---|
| EVA Air international flights | Based on fare class, booking class, and distance |
| Eligible UNI Air flights | According to the applicable earning chart |
| Star Alliance partner flights | Based on partner airline and booking class |
Redeemable award miles are different from the qualifying miles used to earn or renew EVA Air elite status.
🤝 EVA Air Star Alliance Partners
EVA Air belongs to Star Alliance, giving Infinity MileageLands members access to award flights operated by participating alliance airlines.
| Region | Major Star Alliance Partners |
|---|---|
| Northeast Asia | ANA, Asiana Airlines |
| Southeast Asia | Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways |
| Europe | Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, LOT Polish Airlines, TAP Air Portugal, Turkish Airlines |
| North America | United Airlines, Air Canada |
| Central and South America | Avianca, Copa Airlines |
| Africa | Ethiopian Airlines, Egyptair, South African Airways |
| Oceania | Air New Zealand |
Partner award availability is not necessarily identical across frequent flyer programs. A flight bookable through one Star Alliance program may not appear through another.
Star Alliance partner awards follow a separate set of redemption and routing rules from EVA Air-operated awards.
📊 EVA Air Award Chart
EVA Air uses a region-based award chart for eligible EVA Air and UNI Air international flights.
The following table shows one-way award prices.
| Route | Economy | Premium Economy | Business |
|---|---|---|---|
| Taiwan–Hong Kong/Macau | 10K | — | 25K |
| Within Asia, excluding Taiwan–Hong Kong/Macau | 17.5K | 20K | 25K |
| Asia–Oceania | 50K | — | 75K |
| Asia–Americas, standard destinations | 50K | 55K | 75K |
| Asia–Americas, selected long-haul destinations | 55K | 60K | 80K |
| Asia–Europe | 50K | 55K | 75K |
Premium Economy awards are available only on flights offering that cabin.
Selected longer-distance destinations in the Americas include Chicago, New York, Houston, Dallas, Washington, D.C., and Toronto.
Round-trip awards generally require twice the corresponding one-way mileage amount.
🌍 EVA Air Star Alliance Award Chart
Star Alliance partner awards use a separate region-based chart.
The following table shows one-way mileage requirements for awards originating in Taiwan.
| Destination Region | Economy | Business | First |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hong Kong/Macau | 20K | 27.5K | 37.5K |
| Mainland China | 20K | 27.5K | 37.5K |
| North Asia | 20K | 30K | 37.5K |
| Southeast Asia | 20K | 35K | 62.5K |
| Central/South Asia | 30K | 47.5K | 70K |
| Southwest Pacific | 52.5K | 77.5K | 85K |
| North America | 57.5K | 87.5K | 105K |
| Hawaii/Central America | 50K | 92.5K | 145K |
| South America | 67.5K | 108K | 145K |
| Europe | 52.5K | 90K | 122.5K |
| Middle East | 40.5K | 67.5K | 105K |
| North Africa | 45.25K | 80K | 125K |
| Central/Southern Africa | 50K | 92.5K | 145K |
Star Alliance one-way awards cost half the corresponding round-trip award amount.
For example, EVA Air-operated business class between Asia and Europe starts at 75K miles one-way, while a Star Alliance partner business class award between Taiwan and Europe requires 90K miles under the separate partner chart.
These prices apply to the specified regions. Awards between other regions follow their corresponding chart entries.
⭐ Best Ways to Redeem EVA Air Miles
| Redemption | EVA Air Business Class, One-Way | Main Advantage |
|---|---|---|
| Taiwan–Japan | 25K | Fixed intra-Asia pricing |
| Taiwan–Southeast Asia | 25K | Potential value on longer routes |
| Asia–Europe | 75K | Long-haul business class |
| Asia–North America, standard destinations | 75K | Fixed award price |
| Asia–selected long-haul North American destinations | 80K | Published long-haul pricing |
Intra-Asia Business Class: 25K Miles
EVA Air charges 25,000 miles one-way for business class travel within Asia.
Because many destinations share the same price, longer flights with expensive cash fares may offer better redemption value than short regional flights.
Asia–Europe Business Class: 75K Miles
EVA Air-operated business class awards between Asia and Europe start at 75,000 miles one-way.
This is one of the program's more interesting long-haul redemptions, particularly for travelers who can find award seats on their preferred dates.
Star Alliance Round-Trip Stopovers
Star Alliance round-trip awards can include up to two stopovers and one open jaw, subject to routing restrictions.
This makes Infinity MileageLands worth comparing with other Star Alliance programs when planning multi-city international trips.
🛑 EVA Air Stopover and Open-Jaw Rules
| Rule | EVA Air-Operated Awards | Star Alliance Awards |
|---|---|---|
| Stopover on a one-way award | Not permitted | Not permitted |
| Stopovers on a round-trip award | Up to one on eligible long-haul itineraries | Up to two |
| Open jaw | Subject to EVA Air award rules | Up to one |
| Maximum flight segments, one-way | Subject to EVA Air rules | Three |
| Maximum flight segments, round-trip | Subject to EVA Air rules | Six |
| Booking Star Alliance stopover awards | — | EVA Air reservations office |
Star Alliance Stopover Restrictions
A Star Alliance round-trip award can include one stopover in each direction, for a maximum of two stopovers.
A stopover generally means staying at an intermediate city for more than 24 hours.
The turnaround point and stopover points cannot be in the same country as the itinerary's origin or destination.
One open jaw is permitted, with the open-jaw cities required to be within the same region. The open jaw must occur at the origin or turnaround point.
Turnaround Point and Award Pricing Rules
For Star Alliance awards issued or changed on or after September 1, 2025, the turnaround point is determined by the location requiring the highest mileage amount from the origin.
Mileage requirements between the origin and an intermediate stopover or connection, and between an intermediate point and the turnaround point or destination, cannot exceed the applicable mileage requirement between the origin and turnaround point or destination.
As a result, an itinerary may satisfy the stopover and segment limits but still be ineligible under EVA Air's routing rules.
Star Alliance Intercontinental Routing Restrictions
| Travel Between | Routing Not Permitted Via |
|---|---|
| Americas and Europe/Africa/Middle East | Asia or Southwest Pacific |
| Americas and Asia/Southwest Pacific | Europe, Africa, or Middle East |
| Asia/Southwest Pacific and Europe/Africa/Middle East | Americas |
For example, Tokyo–Vancouver–Paris would violate the restriction on traveling between Asia and Europe via the Americas.
Mixed-Cabin Awards
When a Star Alliance award includes flights in different cabin classes, the mileage requirement is based on the highest cabin class included in the itinerary.
A mostly economy-class itinerary with one business-class segment may therefore be priced as a business-class award.
🔍 How to Find EVA Air Award Availability
| Award Type | Search and Booking Method |
|---|---|
| EVA Air-operated flights | EVA Air website |
| Standard Star Alliance awards | EVA Air website or reservations office |
| Star Alliance stopover awards | EVA Air reservations office |
| Star Alliance round-the-world awards | EVA Air reservations office |
EVA Air's website supports award searches for its own flights and certain Star Alliance partner itineraries.
Complex Star Alliance stopover awards and round-the-world awards must be handled through EVA Air's reservations office.
For travelers transferring Citi ThankYou Points, checking award availability before transferring is particularly important because credit card point transfers generally cannot be reversed.
🎫 How to Book EVA Air Award Flights
| Step | Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Sign in to Infinity MileageLands |
| 2 | Open the award ticket booking section |

| 4 | Search travel dates and cabin classes |

| 7 | Pay applicable taxes, surcharges, and fees |
Common Star Alliance award booking classes include X for Economy, I for Business, and O for First Class.
For more complex itineraries, confirm all available segments and routing requirements with EVA Air before transferring additional miles.
🔄 EVA Air Mileage Transfer Rules
Infinity MileageLands allows mileage transfers between registered members, but transferred miles are subject to important restrictions.
| Feature | Rule |
|---|---|
| Recipient | Must be an Infinity MileageLands member |
| Green, Silver, and Gold members | Up to six new recipients per year |
| Diamond members | Up to nine new recipients per year |
| Recipient registration | Required before transfer |
| Expiration after transfer | Original expiration date applies |
| Combining transferred and personal miles | Not permitted |
| Combining miles from different donors | Not permitted |
| Returning transferred miles | Only to the original transferor |
Transferred miles cannot be combined with your own miles or miles received from different members.
For example, if you have 15,000 personal miles and receive 10,000 miles from a family member, those balances cannot simply be combined to book a 25,000-mile award.
Online recipient registration generally becomes effective after 24 hours. Registrations and transfers processed through a reservations office may require additional processing time.
💰 EVA Air Award Ticket Change and Cancellation Fees
EVA Air-operated awards and Star Alliance partner awards have different change restrictions.

Date and flight changes on the same route are free for EVA Air-operated awards.

Award Booking Service Fee
Effective August 1, 2026, an award ticket originating outside Hong Kong and containing an EVA Air-operated flight is subject to a nonrefundable US$33 booking service fee per ticket.
Award Ticket No-Show Fees
| Route | No-Show Fee |
|---|---|
| Hong Kong/Macau | US$40 |
| Other short-haul routes | US$110 |
| Americas, Europe, and Oceania | US$170 |
These no-show fee amounts apply to tickets issued or changed on or after March 1, 2026.
If a traveler fails to cancel a reservation before departure, an additional no-show fee may apply when changing or refunding the award ticket.
⏳ EVA Air Mileage Expiration and Reinstatement
| Feature | Rule |
|---|---|
| Standard mileage validity | 36 months |
| Expiration date | End of the expiration month |
| Reinstatement window | Within six months after expiration |
| Reinstatement fee | US$10 per 1,000 miles |
| Validity after reinstatement | 12 months |
| Annual reinstatement limit | 150,000 miles |
| Eligible miles | Personally earned miles |
| Transferred miles | Retain their original expiration dates |
EVA Air miles have a fixed expiration period. Ordinary account activity does not automatically extend the expiration date of existing miles.
Expired personal miles may be reinstated within six months for a fee of US$10 per 1,000 miles. Reinstated miles remain valid for 12 months.
Reinstated miles may be used for eligible EVA Air, UNI Air, and Star Alliance award tickets or cabin upgrades. They do not count toward elite status qualification.
🏅 EVA Air Infinity MileageLands Elite Status
EVA Air Infinity MileageLands has four membership tiers: Green, Silver, Gold, and Diamond. Silver and higher status are valid for two years, with different requirements for initial qualification and renewal.
| Tier | Initial Qualification | 2-Year Renewal | Star Alliance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Green | Free enrollment | — | Basic member |
| Silver | 30,000 status miles + 4 segments, or 26 segments | 40,000 status miles, or 42 segments | Star Alliance Silver |
| Gold | 50,000 status miles, or 50 segments | 80,000 status miles, or 80 segments | Star Alliance Gold |
| Diamond | 120,000 status miles, or 100 segments | 200,000 status miles, or 140 segments | Star Alliance Gold |
Infinity MileageLands uses a progressive qualification system, meaning members move from Green to Silver, Silver to Gold, and Gold to Diamond. Once Silver or higher status is earned, the membership period lasts two years and the applicable renewal requirement must be met to retain that tier.
Status can be renewed through either status miles or eligible EVA Air / UNI Air international flight segments. Eligible Star Alliance flights can contribute status miles, but flight segments operated by other Star Alliance airlines do not count toward EVA Air’s segment requirement.
Gold and Diamond both include Star Alliance Gold, providing alliance-wide benefits such as lounge access, priority check-in, priority boarding, and additional baggage allowance.
Status miles and award miles are separate. Status miles determine elite qualification and renewal, while award miles are used for award travel. Award miles earned through credit cards do not directly count toward elite status.
🏁 Is EVA Air Infinity MileageLands Worth It?
| Traveler Profile | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| Frequent EVA Air traveler | Strong reason to accumulate miles |
| Intra-Asia business class traveler | Compare 25K one-way awards |
| Asia–Europe business class traveler | Compare 75K one-way awards |
| Star Alliance multi-city traveler | Consider round-trip stopover awards |
| Traveler with changing plans | Take advantage of eligible free date changes |
| Family with separate mileage balances | Review mileage transfer restrictions carefully |
| U.S. credit card points collector | Keep Citi points flexible until seats are available |
Infinity MileageLands is most compelling for travelers who can use EVA Air's fixed award chart, find suitable Star Alliance award availability, or take advantage of its round-trip stopover rules.
For U.S. travelers, Citi ThankYou Points provides a way to access the program without relying entirely on paid EVA Air flights.
The most practical strategy is to find available award seats first, compare the mileage cost with other Star Alliance programs, and transfer credit card points only when you are ready to book.
